In order for students to be successful on STAAR™, instruction must go beyond the simple recall of science facts and vocabulary. Students must be able to demonstrate their understanding of science content through the application of Scientific Investigation and Reasoning Skills. As a result, instruction must teach content and process TEKS in tandem. The integration of science process and content TEKS as well as ELAR TEKS is a hallmark of the Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading® program.
