Learn a simple and easy high yield strategy to help ALL of your students learn how to find mass relationships between reactants and products. In a single lesson, you can help even your most mathematically challenged students understand and remember the steps. This strategy can then be used to make your lessons on limiting reagents and percent yield about the concepts and not just the math. Then we will shift to VSEPR, and you'll learn how to teach your students all 6 molecular geometries listed in the TEKS in mere minutes. Once they have learned this kinesthetic strategy, students will be able to differentiate and identify each of the molecular geometries. Each strategy will be completely modeled, not just explained, and each participant will be given access to all the resources they will need to implement these strategies immediately.
Chemistry plays an important role in all of the arts! Be both chemist and artist as you explore connections between visual art and chemistry in this hands-on presentation. Participants will explore and use chemistry concepts to create works of art that will wow their students.
Teaching different types of bonds might be challenging but when it includes fun games and activities it will motivate the students and encourge them to be active participants. Teachers will go home with fun activities and puzzles to use with the students to help them undertsand the concept of bonding and periodic table. come join the fun and get energized to teach bonding and periodic table.
Come see just how cool, creative and creepy chemistry can be for your students!!. Participants will conduct a lab geared toward having students explore the elements, as well as how many different elements make up many different compounds, and react differently with different elements, to create many exciting and fun to observe reactions("Freaky- Frothy-Lava- Land"!) All lab stations will be Halloween/Fall themed with TEKS/Concepts coinciding with the holiday/season. You do not want to miss this relevant, hands-on workshop; It's going to be a SCREAM!
Captivate your students attention in the Chemistry classroom with the ipad! 21st century learners are eager to see technology incorporated in the classroom. This one hour presentation will provide you with some FREE methods to integrate the ipad in lab, lecture and projects.
REQUIREMENTS: Participants should bring their ipad with the following apps loaded: NearPod, NoteAnytime, NOVA Elements, Socrative (Student and Teacher App), Gas Laws HD Lite, Nuclear, Nuclear Sites
Explore the concept of how pressure and volume relate to each other as properties of gases using syringes (no needles!) and marshmallows. Investigate the formula for Boyle's Law: math integration. Handouts provided.
These super fun and exciting chemistry demonstrations including dry ice, color changes and much more... can be used by all teachers to get a classroom of students excited about the amazing world of chemistry. These easy and practical demonstrations will truly show your students what we already know- that science is fun!
